The owners retained MPA with the desire to build a new farmhouse to support agricultural operations on their 111 acre parcel located near Half Moon Bay. The project site is situated on a rolling hillside with beautiful views of the Purisima Creek Canyon. The site was selected based on the limited agricultural potential of the hillside land, proximity to the existing farm buildings and the limited visual connection with the nearby road.

The solution consists of a low-slung, 3 bedroom home and detached 4 car garage. The buildings use simple forms and natural materials that help them settle into the land. Within the home, living spaces are organized on the southeast (downhill) side to take advantage of views and solar orientation while other spaces are located on the northwest side. A small office is located in a second floor "cupola" that provides panoramic views of the property's farm operations. The result are buildings that harmonize with the natural terrain and compliment the agricultural nature of the property.
