This custom residence, guest house and garage were completed in 2004 in the location of a 1950’s ranch house.  The solution involves a simple, efficient two-story gable building form that was manipulated to provide interest and complexity.  The positioning of the three structures defines a series of outdoor living areas including an informal courtyard for the existing swimming pool.  The exterior walls are clad with a combination of stained western red cedar shingles and siding.

The home was designed for a family of four with living spaces on the main level and bedrooms & office on the upper level. A large, two story living room is positioned at the center of the main house with spectacular views of the coastal hills. An upper-level balcony overlooks the living area. A secret play loft is located above and between the children’s bedrooms.
